Do not disturb a writer in the story cave!

I've had a scene in my head for months. I put it on the back burner ready to take out when it was time to write my next medical. I couldn't wait to start. It was the best scene, funny and just the sort of spring board to get the hero and heroine striking sparks off each other. I got all the other things I had to do done. An extra book ( the Royal Baby book which was fun to write) and author alterations for my trilogy as well as other business stuff.

Then – drum roll – it was time to write…..

What happened to my inspiration? What happened to my fabulous scene? Who are my characters? Why aren't they talking to me?

They went very quiet as they were constantly interrupted by other things in my life. Yes, life does get in the way sometimes!  The one thing I have learned over the course of my career as a writer is that interruptions are the death knell of a good story. I need to be left alone in my story cave to engage with my characters. So the plan for this month is to get back to my cave and work quietly away with the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door.  So please forgive my brief appearances on Facebook and Twitter.  I have some people I have to get to know who are waiting for me on my computer…

Happy reading!
